The foundation is a community interest company (CIC) which supports the development of Nexus Mutual Protocol and Nexus Mutual DAO. It employs our Core Team and has funded the early stages of Nexus Mutual establishment and growth. The foundation is funded by our partners.

Nexus Mutual was founded by Hugh Karp who is an insurance industry expert. His vision came when, after visiting Peruvian earthquake zones and the birth of blockchain, he realised that we could use that technology to help protect underserved communities - those usually ignored by traditional insurance.

Advisory Board (Foundation Councillors)

The Advisory Board has some power in limited circumstances. Their mission is to provide qualified technical guidance to the members of the mutual as well as enact emergency functions should they be required. In future we will move towards a more decentralised model of having a long-term-aligned, community-owned, team to replace the functions of the Advisory Board.
