How To Participate in the Mutual
Dive into the details below and see how you can be part of this exciting journey.
Buy Cover to Protect Your Crypto in DeFi
You can purchase one the Mutual’s cover prodcuts such as Protocol Cover to protect against a wide range of risks.
Nexus Mutual’s product portfolio continues to expand and protect against emerging risks. Teams within the Mutual’s ecosystem are building on top of the protocol to expand access to cover. If you’re a risk expert or part of a DeFi team looking to offer a peace of mind to your users, reach out through the Mutual’s contact form.
Stake NXM and Underwrite Risk
You can collectively or individually evaluate risk and establish parameters for the cover products offered by the Mutual. As an NXM holder, you can stake and delegate your NXM to an existing staking pool managed by a risk expert; or you can create your own staking pool and manage your own staked NXM. Whenever someone buys cover from a product in a pool where you’ve staked NXM, you earn a share of the cover fees in NXM.
To learn more about staking in Nexus Mutual, read the Staking section in the docs.
Assess Claims
When a loss event occurs, members who hold cover can submit a claim request. Once a claim is submitted, members who stake NXM and act as a claim assessor are responsible for reviewing the validity of the submitted claim and voting on the claim outcome.
To learn more about the Claim Assessment process, read the Claim Assessment section in the docs.
Participate in Governance
Nexus Mutual is a decentralised protocol governed by its members. As a member, you have the power to propose, vote on changes to the protocol, and shaping the future off the Mutual. Members also play a crucial role in deciding how the DAO Treasury funds are allocated. These funds are commonly utilised to support DAO teams, ecosystem grants, education, technical infrastructure, and other initiatives.

Contribute to the DAO
You can contribute to the DAO in a variety of ways. The most common way is to work on behalf of members by joining or starting a DAO team.
- Join a DAO team and bring your skills and experience to one of our established teams.
- Request funding to lead a one-off project to grow cover sales and onboard more members to the Mutual.
- Request funding to lead a new DAO team to fit an existing gap within the Mutual and work toward our current objectives, as outlined in the most recent roadmap.
