$50,000
- Users with technical knowledge of smart contracts and exploits - Research teams that have the resources to identify the value of losses accurately - Smart contract auditors or similar teams
Overview
Many DeFi users are not aware of the risks they’re exposed to when they deposit funds into a protocol. For new and experienced users, it would be helpful to create a platform where they can simply enter their wallet address, see the risks they’re exposed to depending on what protocols they’ve deposited funds in, see if any of the protocols have suffered hacks/exploits in the past, and learn about the risks. This platform could recommend cover products a user could purchase to protect themselves against these risks, while sharing what risks they are exposed to but can’t buy cover for at this time.
Scope of the Grant
We looking for an individual or a team to create an interface where users can enter their wallet address to see what risks they are exposed to based on their holdings. After the risk analysis is complete, a user would be presented with educational resources that outline what risks they are exposed to along with a simplified explanation of the risk with some examples. The educational resources available in this interface could be expanded upon over time by security experts to keep it up to date and add new hack/exploits to an open source repository. This interface could also host a comprehensive risk database, which captures the key criteria/variables to monitor for by looking at past loss events (type of hack, amount lost, people involved).
This interface would serve two important purposes:
- To educate users about risk and catalogue the different loss events and the risks that led to the loss. These variables can be used to create a risk framework that can be used to quantify risks into a scoring matrix.
- To recommend available coverage option to protect against risks a user is exposed to after the wallet analysis is completed.
This resource can be maintained over time and security experts could receive a percentage of commissions generated from sales through this interface.
Desired Outcome
This risk analysis tool can act as content marketing and as a means for distribution. This tooling also has the potential to be used for underwriting, which can improve the profitability of Nexus Mutual and its syndicates. If completed, this grant has the potential to increase premiums by 10% in the first year and maybe more in the future.
Desired Qualifications
- Security researchers with technical knowledge of smart contracts and exploits
- Researchers or research teams that have the resources to identify the value of losses accurately
- Solidity and/or Vyper developers with experience working as solo or professional auditors
Available Funding
- Up to $50k, split into multiple deliverables based on the extent of the data collected, formatted and delivered.
